Name: Sao Feng
Age: 32
Allegiance:Pirates
Ship/port of call: The Empress
Title/Job Captain
Personal History:
Sao Feng lived with his mother and siblings in Singapore, near the docks at the port, until his early teens. Being the eldest of 3 boys and 5 girls, Sao Feng took it upon himself to look after his family in his father's absence. His father, who died when Sao Feng was 11, was the captain of a very profitable merchant trading ship. Being such, he had accumulated a fair amount of wealth over the years, to provide for his family after his death. However, with 9 mouths to feed, it didn't last as long as was previously hoped. This probably had something to do with the alcohol and opium addiction his mother developed after Sao Feng's father's death.
So, at age 13, Sao Feng set off to the docks to follow in his father's footsteps and become a merchant sailor, to feed his mother and younger brothers and sisters. However, when he arrived at the docks, the only ship looking for a cabin boy was a rather dubious-looking Chinese warship named the Empress, captained by a less-than-honest man named Cheung Po Tsai. Not realizing until later the extent of the ship's dishonesty, Sao Feng joined the crew. Even once the captain's true calling was revealed, Sao Feng continued to serve under him, glad of the extra wealth he could send back to his mother.
When Sao Feng was 19, no longer a cabin boy, he was involved in a brawl with the 1st mate of the Empress, which ended in the other man's death. Most captains would have executed any man who killed another aboard his ship. Cheung Po Tsai, however, decided to recognize the bravery it must have taken for Sao Feng, still not quite a man, to take on a man twice his size, and after that Sao Feng rose quickly to the rank of 1st mate. Not so many years later, on his deathbed, Cheung Po Tsai gave Sao Feng a gift. It was a tatty rope luck pendant that he always wore, and along with it the words, "Take this, and the ship, with my blessings." Sao Feng has been Captain of the Empress ever since.
Appearance:
Sao Feng has typically Asian features: slanted, almond-shaped eyes, dark hair, tall but not overly so with a slightly stocky build. His skin is very tanned and stained from long hours under the sun and infrequent baths. He is averagely good-looking, with well-defined cheek bones and unruly dark brown hair bordering on black. He has a small amount of facial hair above his lip and on his chin. His mouth is stern, but not unforgiving, and some say that his charm lies in the somewhat secretive smiled often played across his lips.
He has pearly white teeth, not so much from lucky as from the fact that his diet often contains little to no sugar (as it is based mainly on fish and rum while at sea), and the fact that his morning habit is to wash his mouth out with salty water, thus eliminating most germs. Standing at a mere 5'10'', Sao Feng is just above average height, with a lean, muscular body and surprisingly few scars to show for his life of piracy.

Personality:
Sao Feng is a flirt, possibly the most sex-driven Captain on the seas, and mad as a hatter to boot. His advances are not always genuine, though, as he often just finds it easier to make passes at women than try to talk to them seriously. He considers himself very much a man's man, having apparently lost touch with his feminine side around the time he left home. He now considers all women to be fascinating mysteries, to be respected but kept at a distance, emotionally.
He can be courageous and chivalrous, charming many ladies along the way, but all that disappears in an instant when it comes to 'man work', such as piracy and swashbuckling and such, though time has proved that his first-impressions of women are not always correct. After seeing some frighteningly intense swordsmanship from the so-named Calico Ethel Vane, once a pirate captain herself, against Cheung Po Tsai, he would now not hesitate in hiring a woman to do a man's job, providing she had the appropriate 'qualifications', of course.
When he is alone or in the company of his few close friends, Sao Feng shows himself to also have a thoughtful, somewhat more sensitive side, often displaying tact and perception surprising from one of such a harsh reputation, which he very briefly shows to Elizabeth (see POTC3 spoilers).
Likes:
Rum, women, the Empress, the Dragon Lady
Dislikes:
People trying to steal the Empress, people who don't share the rum
Sample R.P: (at least two paragraphs)
Sao Feng stood at the wheel of his ship, enjoying the feel of the wind in his hair, only half concentrating on the seas. The water was calm, there was no need to pay too much attention. And Sao Feng had never been one to waste his energy doing things that didn't need to be done. He closed his eyes a moment, drinking in the late evening sunlight from the sunset. Upon opening them, he noticed the three (very attractive) Asian women heading toward their cabin. He liked to keep them on board, not only for his personal pleasure, but to keep the crew happy. After all, a happy crew meant happy sailing. Or so he hoped. Up until now his theory had worked, and thee was no reason at all why it wouldn't continue to do so.
"Evening, ladies!" he called out to them. They giggled and batted their eye lashes, before replying in unison, "Evening, Captain!" Sao Feng grinned charismatically at them as they continued below board, a hint of a smile lingering as he turned his attentions back to the sea. He could easily leave his first mate or navigator to sail the ship, but he wanted to take advantage of this time.
Moments like this were rare, and of late he found himself struggling more and more to recall why exactly it was he had run away from home as a boy to join a pirate ship. He vaguely recalled something to do with adventure, and youth. Two things he had almost forgotten. Not that there weren't adventures aboard his ship. Just that they all seemed to be the same kind of adventure. Lots of bloody, gory battles, and not much else, truth be told. He sighed and closed his eyes again, not turning as he heard the sound of footsteps approaching.
