Personal History:((borrowed from Wikipedia))
Elizabeth Swann has a dream about when she first met Will Turner. He was rescued from a ship wreck when 12-year-old Elizabeth arrived in Port Royal with her father, Weatherby Swann, the new governor. Eight years later, the independent-minded Elizabeth secretly yearns for freedom and fantasizes about pirates and life at sea. She also harbors feelings for Will, who is now a blacksmith's apprentice. They have formed a cordial friendship, but Will secretly loves her. At his promotion ceremony, Commodore James Norrington, a good and honorable Royal Navy officer, proposes to Elizabeth, but she faints and falls off the rampart before answering. Meanwhile, pirate Captain Jack Sparrow arrives in Port Royal to commandeer a ship. He spots the Royal Navy ship, Interceptor. While attempting to con the two marines guarding it, he sees Elizabeth fall into the bay. Sparrow saves her, but he's captured and jailed for piracy. That night, the Black Pearl, a pirate ship commanded by Captain Barbossa, raids Port Royal, and Elizabeth is kidnapped. Because she possesses an ancient Aztec coin and claims her last name is "Turner" to protect her identity, the pirates believe she is the person they need to break a curse they're under. Actually, the coin belongs to Will Turner, sent to him by his father years before. Using parley, Elizabeth negotiates with Barbossa for the pirates to leave Port Royal in exchange for the medallion. Barbossa agrees, but because she failed to bargain for her own release, he keeps her captive. While under sail to Isla de Muerta, Barbossa tells her about the curse and reveals their true immortal form.
Dissatisfied with Norrington's rescue plan, Will undertakes to find Elizabeth himself. He seeks Sparrow's help, who is uninterested until he learns Will's surname. Although Jack's sudden eagerness causes him to be suspicious, Will frees him, unaware Jack is the Black Pearl's former captain and that his crew mutinied and marooned him ten years before. Now Sparrow wants his ship back. They hijack the Interceptor and head for Tortuga. Along the way, Jack tells an incredulous Will that his father is the pirate, "Bootstrap Bill" Turner, the only Pearl crew member who defended Jack during the mutiny. Bootstrap was bound to a cannon and thrown overboard by the treacherous Barbossa. Jack fails to mention that the coin and Turner blood are needed to break the curse.
On Tortuga, Jack's old friend Gibbs helps recruit a crew. Will overhears Jack telling Gibbs he plans to use Will as "leverage." They set sail for Isla de Muerta, knowing Barbossa will go there to break the curse. In hot pursuit is Commodore Norrington aboard the Dauntless. At the island, Will and Jack sneak inside a cave where the ritual with Elizabeth is underway. Barbossa becomes enraged when he discovers the curse is still in effect. Will rescues Elizabeth, who grabs the coin, but distrusting the eccentric pirate, Will leaves Sparrow unconscious in the cave. Believing Jack fell behind, Gibbs sets sail, telling the crew, "Keep to the code!" The Pirates' Code states that any man that falls behind, is left behind. With Jack as his prisoner, Barbossa pursues the Interceptor, quickly overtaking her. After a fierce battle, the Interceptor is sunk and the crew is captured. Will reveals his identity and, unless the crew is released, threatens to shoot himself and fall overboard, rendering him useless for breaking the curse. Barbossa complies, but because Will failed to specify when or where the crew is to be released, the crafty pirate maroons Jack and Elizabeth on a deserted island.
Realizing Sparrow is not the clever escape artist he is reputed to be, Elizabeth takes action and burns a cache of rum left by smugglers. Norrington spots the huge smoke cloud and rescues them. Aboard the Dauntless, Elizabeth pleads with her father and would-be-suitor to rescue Will, but they refuse. To save Will, she impulsively accepts Norrington's previous marriage proposal, telling him that capturing the Black Pearl would be her wedding present. However, shhe says nothing about the curse as Norrington sets sail for Isla de Muerta.
At Isla de Muerta, Norrington and his men prepare an ambush. As Barbossa is about to sacrifice Will, Jack casually saunters into the cave, interrupting the ritual. He informs the stunned Barbossa that the Royal Navy is waiting outside and persuades him to form an alliance. Will reviles Sparrow for his treachery, although Jack's true allegiance is unclear. He swipes a coin from the Aztec chest; to defeat Barbossa, he also needs to be cursed. When the pirates march off to battle the navy, Jack attacks Barbossa. Will fights the remaining pirates, helped by Elizabeth, who has slipped away from the Dauntless. She also freed Jack’s crew, but they refused to help save Will and set sail on the Pearl, telling a disgusted Elizabeth, "Jack owes us a ship." As Jack and Will battle the pirates, they offer their blood and return the last two coins to the chest, breaking the curse. Jack shoots and kills Barbossa just as he reverts to mortal form. The remaining now-mortal pirates are defeated. Will, Elizabeth, and Jack are rescued, although Jack is later sentenced to hang for piracy.
At Jack's execution in Port Royal, Will, supported by Elizabeth, saves Sparrow from the gallows, but they are quickly captured. Both Norrington and Governor Swann are reluctant, however, to arrest Will or continue Jack's hanging. Jack then falls off the rampart just as the Black Pearl sails into view. He is hauled aboard, captain once again. Realizing it is Will who Elizabeth truly loves, Norrington graciously concedes her hand. Good man that he is, Norrington allows the Black Pearl one day's head start before giving chase. (A deleted scene shows Norrington questioning Elizabeth's motive behind her sudden decision to accept his proposal.)
Captain Jack Sparrow has obtained a drawing of key that unlocks the Dead Man's Chest, but he does not know where to search. Unfortunately, Jack’s compass that points to what the holder truly desires fails to work for him. Further complicating matters, Davy Jones, captain of the legendary ghost ship, the Flying Dutchman, is hunting Jack to collect the blood debt he is owed. Meanwhile, about-to-be-married Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner are arrested by Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company for aiding Sparrow’s escape. Former Commodore James Norrington is also implicated. The punishment is death, but Beckett offers clemency if Will can find Jack Sparrow and his compass.
Will finds the Black Pearl crew on Pelegosto hiding from Jones' leviathan, the Kraken. Elizabeth escapes from jail, and learning Beckett is only pardoning Sparrow, boldly confronts him at gunpoint. She demands he validate a Letter of Marque intended to recruit Jack Sparrow as a privateer for the Crown, but which she plans to give to Will. He signs it but tells her that he still wants the compass. Unknown to Elizabeth, he needs it to find the Dead Man's Chest containing the heart of Davy Jones. With it, Beckett will control the seas.
The resourceful Elizabeth disguises herself as a cabin boy and tricks a merchant crew into taking port in Tortuga, where she hopes to find Will. Instead, she encounters Sparrow and Gibbs desperately recruiting unsuspecting sailors to pay off Jack's debt to Davy Jones, who demands one hundred souls in exchange for Jack's. Another man applies—James Norrington, who is now a miserable, drunken wretch. Blaming Sparrow for ruining his life, he attempts to shoot him and ignites a brawl, but Elizabeth saves him by knocking him out. At the pier, she confronts a flirtatious Jack. Will, he sadly reports, was pressed ganged into Davy Jones's crew, although he claims he is blameless. Norrington is skeptical, however. Jack convinces Elizabeth that if she finds the Dead Man's Chest, she will find Will. Trusting Sparrow, she uses the compass and gets a bearing.
The Black Pearl heads for Isla Cruces. Once under sail, Jack becomes amorous towards Elizabeth. Observing her pleased reaction to Sparrow's attention, Norrington comments to her that she should consider just how Will came to be captured by Davy Jones. Elizabeth rejects Norrington's implication that she has romantic feelings for Sparrow and says she trusts him. However, she becomes distressed when the compass points to Jack, who attempts to woo her but fails. She tells him she believes he is a good man and that one day an opportunity will arise for him to do the right thing, but he brushes off her comments. Encouraged by her coyness, he attempts to kiss her, but the Black Spot, a mark that Jack's debt is due, suddenly reappears on his hand, and he rushes off in a panic. The Kraken is hunting him.
On Isla Cruces, Jack, Elizabeth, and Norrington find the Dead Man's Chest. Elizabeth is reunited with Will, who has escaped from the Flying Dutchman with the key to the chest. A furious Elizabeth learns that Jack tricked Will into being captured by Davy Jones. A conflict over the heart erupts: Will wants to stab the heart and kill Jones so he can free his father from Jones' servitude. Jack fears the Kraken will continue hunting him if Jones is dead. Norrington plots to bargain back his career with it. A three-way duel errupts, but Jack manages to get the key and the heart. But it is Norrington who escapes with it and the Letter of Marque when they're cornered by Jones's crewmen, who retrieve the (empty) chest.
Pursued by the Flying Dutchman, the Pearl outruns her. Davy Jones summons the Kraken, but the crew temporarily fight it off. In a weak moment, Jack deserts his crew in the one remaining longboat. However, he returns in time to save his shipmates from the Kraken. He then gives the order to abandon ship. Realizing the Kraken only wants Jack, Elizabeth distracts him with a passionate kiss while handcuffing him to the mast. Climbing into the longboat, she tells the others he chose to stay behind, unaware Will witnessed her kissing Sparrow. The Kraken returns for its final assault, and the Pearl and Jack are dragged to a watery grave. Davy Jones declares their debt settled, but he is enraged when he discovers the chest is empty. It is during this final battle that Jack's and Elizabeth's contrasting character traits emerge: Jack shows heroism and loyalty by returning to the ship and saving his crew; by abandoning her sense of duty and honor, Elizabeth becomes more pirate-like when she tricks Jack and sacrifices him to protect herself and the others (although she is guilt-ridden).
Norrington arrives in Port Royal and presents the heart and the Letter of Marque to Cutler Beckett. Meanwhile, Will, Elizabeth and the grieving crew make their way to Tia Dalma, the voodoo priestess who helped Jack find the chest. As the crew drinks a somber toast to their fallen captain, tears stream down Elizabeth's face. Will comforts her, even though he believes she now loves Jack. Tia Dalma asks if they'd be willing to travel to World's End to return Jack. They all agree, but she says they will need a captain who knows those waters. Incredulously, the very alive Captain Barbossa descends the stairs
Appearance: Elizabeth has lightly tanned skin and a slim figure, which often comes in handy when she needs to pose as a pirate to get where she needs to go. She has large brown eyes and long golden hair, and her natural beauty shines through when covered in dirt and dressed in rags. She's most comfortable in pirate wear, but will dress to the nines if the situation calls for it.
